Scogliera Viva of Caorle
Scogliera Viva (Alive Cliffs) is certainly one of the main attractions of Caorle and it is one of the most beautiful walks that you can do on the Adriatic Sea, it can be visited at any time of the day and year.
On one side you can admire the historic center with its colors and symbols such as the Campanile del Duomo, on the other side you have the roar of the waves on the dam of rocks that ends with the church of the Madonna dell'Angelo, the beautiful location for many weddings on the sea.
The idea of creating an art gallery open to the sky dates back to 1992, when the sculptor Sergio Longo intuited that every single rock could take life transforming itself into a work of art. Therefore he decided to enriche them with representations inspired to the marine world, like Neptune and a magical nymph.
This idea was very appreciated by the citizens and by the local administration and the following year began the cultural event International Prize "Scogliera Viva", a sort of Biennale of sculpture. The answer was well received and was attended by many artists of international fame. Every two years this walk is enriched by new sculptures made on the place.
Now you can admire hundreds of works made directly on the cliff of Euganean trachyte. For children becomes a moment of entertainment to discover the various representations trying to give space to their imagination. There are subjects that recall man, animals, metaphysics and feelings like love with always new and profound meanings in order touch the soul of each individual.
For this reason we can consider the cliff of Caorle as a real museum in the open air.
Among the artists who have collaborated to the enrichment of this art gallery we remember Miguel Miranda and Atchugarry.
Scogliera Viva has become one of the main symbols of Caorle and a sought-after destination for tourists curious to see what new works have been added over the years.
